Outstanding Volunteer Award

Nominations are being accepted for the EWCA Outstanding Volunteer Award. This award was first presented in July 2000 at the EWC/EWCA International Conference. The first recipient, Vicki Shambaugh was honored for her long and distinguished service to the EWCA Executive Board on which she served as both President and Secretary.

Objective: To recognize outstanding alumni volunteers who have provided significant contributions to the programs and activities of the East-West Center Association.

  • The individual should exemplify what is best in a volunteer including service to something beyond oneself, a willingness to contribute time and effort without pay, and a donation of time and effort beyond one’s normal responsibilities.
  • Impact the volunteer had on the ultimate success of EWCA programs/activities.
  • The amount and length of time the volunteer provided to EWCA
  • The positive, supportive attitude of the volunteer in providing service to EWCA

Selection Process: Nominations will be solicited from the EWCA Executive Board, the Associates Office, and EWCA Chapters. Nominations will be reviewed by the EWCA Nominating Committee and recommendations will be made to the EWCA Executive Board for final disposition.

Awards: Up to a maximum of three awards may be presented each year.

 

Award Presentation: An appropriate certificate or plaque will be provided to the awardee/s during an EWCA event such as an EWCA Conference, EWCA Board Meeting, or Chapter Leaders Meeting.

 

Deadline for receipt of nominations: January 15. The nomination should provide sufficient information to clearly evaluation the nominee's contributions to the four criteria listed above. The nomination should be endorsed/signed by at least three EWCA alumni members.
