Brief Institutional Description: Comprehensive institution w/ 97,000 headcount; 34,000 credit FTES, 30,000 noncredit FTES; 769 fulltime and 1195 parttime faculty working on 10 major sites/campuses.

Asian/International Stage of Development: We have departments of Asian Studies, Asian AMerican Studies and Philippine Studies. We serve international students and have a varied Study Abroad program. We have an active East-West group. The language offerings include very popular courses in Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. We have contract ed offerings in Shanghai. Our own Asian Infusion Project, inspired by the East-West Center/ U of Hawaii summer workshop, is in the second year of a three year grant from the State Chancellor's Office.
