Asia Pacific Scholars, Officials and Business Leaders to Gather at EWC Conference in Beijing

HONOLULU (Feb. 7, 2012) – Several hundred international scholars, officials, educators and business leaders are expected to attend the East-West Center/EWC Association’s major biennial international conference, which will be held Sept. 1-3, 2012, in Beijing. The theme of the conference is "Community Building and Leadership in Asia Pacific."

The conference, which will be held at Peking University, is open to the general public. Sessions will include substantive panels and expert discussion on a range of key regional issues, including good governance, social justice, sustainable growth, conflict reduction, health, environment, communications, culture and more.

The conference is being jointly held by the East-West Center, an internationally recognized education and research institution headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the East-West Center Association, the organization that represents the Center’s more than 60,000 alumni throughout Asia, the Pacific and the U.S., many of whom now serve in positions of responsibility in their respective fields.

The gathering will bring together East-West Center researchers, alumni, students, friends and other interested professionals from dozens of nations, with ample opportunities for informal networking, including banquets, luncheons, cultural presentations and optional tours.

    • Regular Registration (April 1 – Aug. 17)…..US $300
    • On-Site Registration (Sept. 1-3)…..US $350
