East-West Center Board Re-Elects Sananikone as Chairman
HONOLULU (August 7) – Puongpun Sananikone, an international development economist and EWC alumnus, has been re-elected by the East-West Center Board of Governors to serve a second-year term as Chairman of the Board. Roland Lagareta, a former EWC board chairman, was also re-elected to serve as the board’s vice-chairman.

Originally from Laos, Sananikone was an East-West Center participant in the mid-1960s. He credits the Center’s cross-cultural environment with shaping both his personal life and his career as an international development economist and business executive who has worked on every continent.  Sananikone is the first East-West Center alumnus to be elected chairman.
