HONOLULU (Sept. 29, 2011) – Eric N. Milstead, an IT Manager at the U.S. Department of State, has joined the East-West Center for a one-year post as a visiting research fellow and diplomat-in-residence.
Mr. Milstead’s most recent post was at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where he served as Management Officer. His previous overseas posts include Thailand, Slovenia and the former Zaire. During his term at the Center, he will conduct research reviewing Latin American participation in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), with a particular emphasis on the various free trade agreements being negotiated throughout the Asia-Pacific region and their possible implications for the United States.
Mr. Milstead has received multiple individual and group awards from the State Department. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri.
