SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

- Submissions to the series are considered first by the Series Editorial Board. Successful candidates are then forwarded to Stanford University Press, which oversees peer review and makes the final decision to publish. The East-West Center provides a subvention
The Editorial Board welcomes preliminary submissions that include a proposal (see below), a full or partial manuscript (an introductory chapter and sample chapters), and a CV from the principal author(s) or editor(s). Submission of partial manuscripts are welcome, but the CIAP Editorial Board requires a full manuscript to refer a project to Stanford for peer review. Manuscripts should be no more than 90,000 words, including notes. - The proposal should cover the following points.
• Book title, problem focus, and theoretical approach.
• Introductory chapter. Provide an introductory chapter that describes the book's aims, theoretical orientation, and significance.
• Table of Contents: Provide a list of chapters and identify main elements of each indicating how each contributes to the book's overall objectives.
• If the book is an edited volume, list chapters and contributors.
• Identify related books in print and state how this book will contribute to the literature.
• Readership (likely audiences for the book).

A note on citation style:
Stanford University Press follows Chicago Manual of Style. Authors should use one of the styles described for citing sources: endnotes and bibliography or in-text citations (author-date) and a reference list.
