Hale Mānoa principally houses the Center's international residential community of graduate students and professional participants. Like Jefferson Hall, it was designed by internationally acclaimed architect I.M. Pei. It is named for Mānoa Valley, home to the East-West Center campus.
Hale Mānoa is a 13-story dormitory serviced by two elevators, its floors or units are designated for male-only or female-only room assignments. Other areas are for coeducational living where married couples are accommodated in double rooms.
Rooms are arranged into living units, with each unit consisting of two double and five single rooms. All rooms have telephone service and WiFi. Each living unit has shared bathroom/toilet facilities. Room cleaning services, bedding/linen, pillows, towels, and soap are not provided. Towel packets are available at the front desk for a nominal charge. Shared kitchen facilities and coin-operated laundry machines are located on each floor. In addition, residents have access to lounges for TV viewing and small meetings or social functions. Hale Mānoa is not air conditioned.
Meals
Cooking in the dorms should be confined to kitchens (see Resident Code of Conduct). Students residents have the option (it is not required) of participating in a meal program through UH. A variety of food outlets and cuisines is available on the UH campus, some in campus facilities and others in food trucks. At the Center, coffee and limited food items are available during the school year in front of Burns Hall at the corner of East-West Road and Dole Street. Groceries and a variety of food outlets are available in Mānoa Marketplace (in the valley north of the Center) and in the commercial center of Mo’ili’ili (the neighborhood south of the Center), along King and Beretania streets.

Eligible students are East-West Center scholarship recipients and Affiliate Program participants only.

Conference Attendees
All conference housing requests will be accommodated at Lincoln Hall, with priority given to groups whose objectives and interests complement the East-West Center mission.
Conferences/groups eligible for housing must have an educational or non-profit affiliation/sponsorship. Reservations are normally confirmed up to a year in advance.
