Geospatial analysis, climate variability, extreme climate events, rainfall patterns, vegetation response

Dr. Abby G. Frazier is a geographer and climatologist who studies the spatiotemporal dynamics and impacts of climate change and climate variability with a focus on Pacific Islands. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Geography at Clark University, and an Adjunct Fellow at the East-West Center.

Before joining the East-West Center’s Research Program as a Fellow in July 2018, Dr. Frazier completed Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Geography at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Her dissertation research focused on the influence of climate variability on rainfall patterns and vegetation response in Hawai‘i. Her current work focuses on drought and its impacts on the management of water resources and ecosystems in the Pacific Islands. She works closely with stakeholders to co-produce actionable science to support climate change decision making and natural resource management. Her work also addresses the impacts of changes in extreme events (e.g., flooding, drought) on rice farmers in mainland Southeast Asia. Dr. Frazier is also an Affiliate Graduate Faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences and the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Dr. Frazier's curriculum vitae is available in pdf format.
