Born in Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood of Shadyside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Burton White has had a career in the administration, management, production, education and consultation for legitimate professional theatre and nonprofit best practices that spans over four decades. Burton is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, the professional union that represents actors and stage managers on Broadway and throughout the United States.
Administratively, Burton has held the positions of house manager of the 3,400-seat Stanley Theatre (now Pittsburgh’s Benedum Center for the Performing Arts); house and company manager of the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival; associate director/general manager and faculty member of the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatre Conservatory; director of public relations for the 50th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Playhouse; founding partner, managing producer and consultant for Gargaro Productions (now Pittsburgh Musical Theatre); managing producer for The Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville in California, director of operations of the Honolulu Symphony Society; theatre restoration technical consultant for the Hawaii Theatre Center and, from 1995 to 2015, the artistic director and general manager of the Hawaii Theatre Center, named one of the outstanding historic theatres in America by the League of Historic American Theatres; and development officer for the PAʻI Foundation serving the Native Hawaiian community. Burton currently serves as the manager of the Imin International Conference Center at the East-West Center, and provides pro bono nonprofit development consultation services to the National Asian Artists Project in New York City.
Burton has produced more than one hundred full-scale theatre and concert productions for both for-profit and nonprofit companies that include the Great American Melodrama, Hawaii Theatre Center, Honolulu Symphony Society, the House of Saud royal family, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre (formerly Gargaro Productions), Pittsburgh Opera Theatre, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival, and West Virginia Public Theatre. He has produced over one hundred Hawaiian concerts and entertainments during his 20-year tenure at the historic Hawaii Theatre that include the annual A Cazimero Christmas with the Brothers Cazimero (10 years) and A Merry Christmas with Friends & Nabors with Jim Nabors (11 years). A member of the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Artists, White continues to empower artists, young and old, to celebrate and share their talents and stories with the public. Production credits outside of theatre include film, television, commercial and industrial work.

He was a past Pension & Welfare Trustee for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 665 (IATSE); a senior member of the Master Agreement Negotiation Team with American Federation of Musicians, Local 677 (AFM); and a member and regional representative for Stage Managers Association (SMA).
