The East-West Center promotes better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific through cooperative study, research, and dialogue.

The East-West Center was established by the United States Congress in 1960 as a national educational institution to foster better relations and understanding among the peoples of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific islands through programs of cooperative study, training, and research.

By 2032, the East-West Center, in collaboration with partners, is a premier institution in the Indo-Pacific for developing and equipping a network of leaders to solve challenges of common concern.

Our Staff, Boards, Experts, and Participants are at the heart of all our programs.

The East-West Center carries out its mission through the following programs of cooperative study, training, and research.

The Center’s lush 21-acre campus includes conference facilities, three residence halls, and office buildings housing research, program, and administrative activities.
