Geography

Bacuit Bay, Palawan

The Philippines, located in Southeast Asia, is an archipelago made up of over 7,000 islands.  Main island groups are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.  The Conference venue is in the island of Luzon.

Getting There
Manila is served by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) which has three terminals.  Terminal 2 services all Philippine Airlines (PAL) flights, both international and domestic.  Terminal 3  services international flights of Delta Air, KLM, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and All Nippon Airways.  All other international flights are serviced in Terminal 1.  On departure, an airport terminal fee of PhP750.00 (appox. US$17) will be collected.

Entry Formalities

Dinagyang, Iloilo City

Nationals from 151 countries may enter the Philippines without a visa and stay for a maximum of 30 days, provided they possess passports valid at least 6 months beyond their intended stay in the Philippines, and that they have outward bound tickets to their country of origin or to a next country of destination.  Please go to http://itsmorefuninthephilippines.com for the list of countries.

For those requiring visas, please present the Conference Registration Confirmation to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate located in your country to facilitate the issuance of the visa.

Customs and Currency Regulation
Before deplaning, you will be asked to fill out the Baggage and Currency declaration Form.  The following items are allowed duty-free - personal effects, tobacco not exceeding two cartons of cigarettes or two tins of pipe tobacco, and alcoholic beverages up to two liters.

Visitors carrying more than US$10,000 cash or its equivalent in other foreign currencies must be declared to a Customs Officer or at the counter of the  Central Bank of the Philippines situated at the Customs area.

Climate
The Philippines has a sub-tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 23-31 degrees Celsius in the month of January.

Language
Filipino is the national language but English is widely spoken and is extensively used in business and government.

Currency
The monetary unit of the Philippines is the Peso (Php) which floats in relation to foreign currencies.  There are notes in 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 peso denominations.  Coins come in 5,10, 25 and 50 centavo and 1, 5 and 10 peso denominations.

International credit cards such as Mastercard and Visa are accepted in major establishments.
