Developing leadership is the work of the East-West Center.  For more than sixty years, our programs have helped future leaders think, act, and work with deep understanding of people and issues.  Here, awareness broadens to the region and the world.

Living and working together, students share an emphasis on the value of international dialogue on critical issues of common concern throughout the Asia Pacific region. Although they each return to their own country and/or community, they take with them international outlooks and bonds that last a lifetime. Your gift makes a real difference in the lives of East-West Center students and in the lives of the people and communities they plan to serve.

East-West Center Association (EWCA) Alumni Scholarship Fund

The East-West Center Association (EWCA) Alumni Scholarship Fund was established to make East-West Center’s transformational educational programs accessible to all qualified students, regardless of their economic resources.  Scholarships are awarded to graduate degree students based on academic excellence, financial need, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to community service and involvement with EWCA.

As a public-private partnership, the East-West Center today depends on private support for most programmatic activities while depending on federal appropriations for core support.  Your gift is needed more than ever.  Help us continue to bring the region’s promising young leaders to the East-West Center.  Every gift – whatever amount is right for you – is valuable.

Thanks to the generosity of alumni and community donors, 100 participants from 19 countries have been able to participate in EWC education programs since 2002, regardless of their resources.  These stand-alone scholarships have helped to increase the number of EWC students, and provided supplemental funding to graduate-degree fellows who need additional support for travel to the Center and for other personal expenses.
