Closing Date

Applications for the 2023 Consortium are open until Nov 21, 2022 at midnight ET.

The East-West Center in Washington (EWCW) invites representatives of youth-oriented organizations specializing in international relations to build and strengthen their knowledge of Korean and Indo-Pacific affairs. Representatives will have the opportunity to engage with peers of similar organizations as well as guest speakers.

Selected applicants will attend four workshops held every two months in Washington, DC, each focusing on critical topics affecting US-Korea relations. The first three workshops will have hybrid attendance options, and travel expenses of up to nine participants outside the DC area will be sponsored to attend the final workshop and Korean cultural performance.

EWCW enables emerging professionals in the field of international relations to apply their interest and understanding of both Korea and US-Indo-Pacific affairs in a diverse and collaborative environment. Representatives from student groups, volunteer organizations, and youth networks, whether focused on Korea or not, are encouraged to apply.

2023 Tentative Workshop Dates

Workshops will cover traditional issues affecting the US-Korea alliance, but also forward-leaning concerns such as social and economic resilience in the Indo-Pacific region. Exact themes to be finalized later.

  • Session one: January 2023
  • Session two: March 2023
  • Session three: May 2023
  • Session four: July 2023
