Who We Are

Communications & External Relations (CER) advances the Center's missions through public engagement. We promote EWC activities and engage with diverse audiences through communications and publications, strategic messaging and marketing, events and Arts programming.

What We Do

  • Arts Program: The Arts program of the East West Center presents performances, exhibitions and educational engagement by the finest artists in the Asia Pacific Region.
  • BASE Project: The "Best American Stories Evaluation" (BASE) project is a cooperative agreement with the U.S. State Department to research and heighten awareness of the "All of America" efforts—including government, civil society, industry and academia—to develop human capital in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.
  • PROJECT Governance: The Promoting Just, Engaged, Civic-minded and Transparent (PROJECT) Governance in the Pacific project is a five-year, US $20 million partnership between USAID and the Blue Pacific Alliance (comprising the Pacific Community, East-West Center, CARE, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems) focused on strengthening democratic institutions and promoting sound, just, and responsive governance in the Pacific Islands region.
  • EWC Insights: The EWC Insights event series leverages the Center’s 60-year history in the region to strengthen partnerships and networks, engaging an audience of multilateral stakeholders and thought leaders to better inform their assessment of the opportunities and challenges facing the Indo-Pacific. Current series include China Seminars (with Friends of EWC), Pacific Leaders (with the Pacific Islands Development Program), and Asia-Pacific Transitions (with the Research Program).
