CONFERENCE THEME

The ASDP National Conference provides an opportunity for alumni and other interested college and university faculty members to share research and teaching strategies for effectively infusing Asian studies content into undergraduate humanities, social science, business, and science curricula. In 2016, ASDP will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary. In recognition of this milestone and the merits of inclusiveness, the 2016 National Conference invites papers, panels, and round table discussions of topics and books that touch on issues of continuity and change in Asia.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

For the 25th Anniversary Conference, the ASDP Alumni Association is pleased to host the annual ASDP National Conference in Washington, D.C. at the Embassy Row, located in the trendy DuPont Circle neighborhood, and just a short walk from the Metro and roughly 15 minutes from Reagan International.  The nation’s capital is one of the country’s most international cities. While other cities in the U.S. might more readily come to mind as food, art and culture destinations, Washington D.C. competes handily.  Her restaurants offer diverse food paths for exploration, from Deep South comfort food to South Indian fusion cuisine. The range of museums and galleries in the city is truly remarkable and include the world-class collections of the Smithsonian Museums, the Freer and Sackler Galleries, and the National Gallery of Art.  Most museums offer free admission. In addition, the city features a wide range of performance venues and family-friendly events and destinations. The ASDP 2016 National Conference promises an ideal venue from which to explore the cherished traditions and ongoing transformations taking place in the nation’s capital.  Reserve your conference place and hotel today!
