The Asian Studies Development Program (ASDP) received Institutional Project Support from the Japan Foundation for a one-year initiative to assist undergraduate educators build Japanese Studies capacities through two content-focused, multidisciplinary faculty development workshops. These workshops were designed to provide participants with thematically-organized introductions to Japanese culture and society, and with an opportunity to discuss with Japan area studies experts both how to integrate this material into their own courses and how to further Japanese language and culture studies on their home campuses. These workshops were hosted in Spring and Fall of 2011 in Seattle and Chicago.

Participants in these workshops were required to develop relevant curriculum materials, including short course modules, full course revisions, annotated bibliographies and annotated lists of films and internet resources useful in undergraduate teaching about Japan. These projects can be accessed here along with the further information about each of the workshops.
