Celebrating the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the 70th Anniversary of the end of WWII

Tuesday, April 7, 2015 | 09:00-13:00

Rotunda Room (North Tower, 8th Floor), Ronald Reagan Bldg.

1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, DC 20004

Marking the 70th anniversary of US-Japan relations since the end of World War II and the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, the East-West Center in Washington debuted its new Japan Matters for America/America Matters for Japan website, which presents various data sets from 2009 to the 2013 in an interactive format for every US state and the District of Columbia. Accompanying the website were the East-West Center's US state and congressional district 1-pagers, which detail local ties between US states and districts and Japan, from economic and investment ties to sister cities and Japanese programs at US colleges. Both of these new initiatives were made possible through the East-West Center's partnership with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation-USA. To view photos and full video coverage of the event, please visit the Sasakawa Pace Foundation-USA's website.
