This joint East-West Center/Korea Energy Economics Institute International conference on "Global Dynamics in the Green Energy Industry: A New Engine of Growth" will bring together senior officials and leading experts from China, Japan, South Korea, the U.S. and the EU to examine green energy policies of major economies relating to research and development, manufacturing capacity, enabling infrastructure, and market development in the six selected green energy technologies that can reduce, avoid, or capture and store greenhouse gas emissions: solar photovoltaic, wind power, LED lighting, smart grid, nuclear, and CCS.

The Conference has as its primary goal the assessment of the effectiveness of a diverse array of proactive policy measures employed by the EU-Japan-U.S. Triad and the rising green energy technology tigers of China and Korea and their impacts on deployment, to identify best policies and practices in green energy policymaking, and to disseminate identified best policy practices in the North-Pacific region. Finally, the thrust of the 2010 EWC/KEEI Conference is to analyze the global dynamics of the green energy industry, focusing on the economics of the technology, the research and innovation capability, the manufacturing capability, critical issues to the particular technology, and the policy landscape in six core green energy technologies.
