ASDP Summer Workshop II
August 10-11, 2022

Understanding modern China is indispensable to understanding our contemporary and future worlds. This two-day online workshop will offer participants an intensive introduction to modern China through the lenses of history, the arts and ethnicity. The program will include three lecture presentations, each followed by small group and plenary curriculum development discussions. The workshop will conclude with a plenary panel and classroom application session. Prior to the workshop, participants will be provided short readings and bibliographies for each session.
This workshop is the beta launch of a 2-year project on infusing Chinese and Southeast Asian studies into the undergraduate curriculum. Future programs include 2-week summer residential institutes at the East-West Center in 2023 (China) and 2024 (Southeast Asia), and four in-person workshops each year on the US mainland. This project, funded by the Luce Foundation, seeks to enhance Asian studies offerings at undergraduate-serving colleges and universities, especially minority-serving institutions. For more information on the full project, click here.
> Registration is $35.00. Click here to register.
Letters of invitation will be sent to those who register for the program, and a certificate of completion to those who attend the full two-day program.
