Climate Action and Nuclear Energy: A Virtual Tour of the United States Nuclear Energy Laboratory

Wednesday, October 06, 2021 | 4:00-5:00 am, Hawaii
8:00-9:00 am, Mountain Time | 9:00-10:00 pm, Jakarta, Indonesia

This webinar features a virtual tour of the Experimental Breeder Reactor No. 1 (EBR-I) Atomic Museum located in Idaho, hosted live with our Idaho National Laboratory Tour guide. The facility is a National Historic Landmark where usable electricity was first generated from nuclear energy in 1951. This pioneering reactor operated for 12 years before being shut down for the last time in December 1963. It is the only place in America you can see four nuclear reactors — including two aircraft nuclear propulsion prototypes, a reactor control room, remote handling devices for radioactive materials, radiation detection equipment, and much more. The participants will also be able to learn about Advanced Test Reactor, which is the world’s most powerful research reactor and serves as the flagship irradiation facility in the US, the Materials and Fuels Complex and INL’s other in-town facilities during the session.

More information about the EBR-I is available at
