Mekong Delta

The Exchange Fall 2022- Connected At The Center

Weaving the Past, Present and Future

Session 7: Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is the central area where rivers connect, making it one of the largest rivers in the world. It begins in China, crosses Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, before it ends at the South China Sea. Recognizing that water is a finite source, people around the world believe that the Mekong Delta needs to be governed appropriately and often debate on this topic. Dr. Ming Li Yong, an East-West Center Research Fellow and expert on the Mekong Delta will be discussing hydropower and environmental governance in the Mekong River. By weaving this concept into our own lives, we can ask, “How can we govern the water sources in our home countries?”
