The Exchange Fall 2022- Connected At The Center
Weaving the Past, Present and Future
Session 4: Voyaging
Embedded in Pacific Islander history and culture is the tradition of voyaging, which was almost lost. Initially started at the East-West Center, the Polynesian Voyaging Society's purpose was to restore their relationship with the ocean through their traditional navigation and exploration on canoes. The preservation of the voyaging traditions weaves the ancestors' practices to modern day voyagers. This session will be exploring how Pacific ancestors navigated through the ocean, discovered islands and settled around the Pacific.
