Dr. Baru will discuss India's economic policy and performance changes and their implications for the country's foreign relations. The talk is based on his new book The Strategic Consequences of India's Economic Performance (Academic Foundation, New Delhi, India, 2007).

Sanjaya Baru is currently Media Advisor and Spokesperson to the Prime Minister of India. In the media, he has been Chief Editor of The Financial Express, Editorial Page Editor of The Times of India, and Associate Editor of The Economic Times. In academia, he has been Professor, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations. Dr. Baru has been a Member of India's National Security Advisory Board and is on the Governing Board of the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. In 2000 he was the J. Watumull Visiting Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the author of The Political Economy of Indian Sugar and has published extensively on economic and strategic policy in India and abroad. Dr. Baru earned his PhD in economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.
