Virtual Virtual

The (En)Gendering Pacific Stories series’ mission is to create and host safe spaces for Pacific peoples to share their stories of navigating gender within diverse, complex, and fluid experiences. These stories will engender community dialogue toward shared understanding of and compassion for the diverse gendered identities and experiences across Oceania.

“Men of the Land” will promote insightful discussion on the value of working the land, the natural resources that benefit our ways of life, and cultural roles as to whether gender plays a part in certain duties, tasks, etc. This discussion will focus on how gender factors in these experiences. We hope through this power-hour talk-story session, our audience will takeaway real-life lessons and advice from our panelists and gain an understanding of whether gender does or does not factor into the significance of the work they do with the land and its resources.

Panelists

Anthony Watson is an artist and entrepreneur. He was born in the U.S.A. but was raised in Palau. He attributes much of his art to an innate propensity that was cultivated with his exposure to the diverse cultures of Micronesia. Anthony's work is informed primarily by a need to reflect on current events, but also to enrich oneself through the didactic, kinetic exploration of environment and materials as a path to personal sustenance.

Danny Iteni Katoa is a family man. He is married to his wife of 21 years, Katherine, and has two sons, Sosaia and Kimo. He entered the University of Hawaii on a football scholarship and earned a bachelor of arts degree in Sociology. He spent close to two decades as a business builder, public speaker, investor, and marketplace minister. He partners with the Holy Spirit to nurture, support, encourage, teach, and disciple the lost to gain their true identity in the Lord. His voice and work is his worship to display the love of the Father in the marketplace; starting in his own home.
