"Evolving Linkages of the Pacific Economies’ Closing Conference":
Sharing Research Findings

Results from a series of applied research projects examining processes of change in selected Pacific countries’ external economic ties in the following areas:

  • Exports
  • Imports
  • Finance and banking
  • Tourism
  • Labor and remittances
  • Overseas development assistance

Through reviews of broad trends as well as detailed case studies, this research explores how overseas markets of selected Pacific developing member countries of the ADB have evolved in response to changing domestic, regional, and global economic circumstances. It also considers the implication of changing economic links for regional cooperation and integration efforts in the Pacific and proposes practical steps Pacific countries can take to adapt to, and benefit from, a changing global environment.
