Future Leaders of the Pacific: Trends, Issues, and Opportunities for Collective Regional Action

This is a listing of older East-West Center events (newer listed first).  See Events to get the list of current or upcoming events.

When: Feb 4 2013 (All day) until Feb 7 2013 (All day)
Where: Pago Pago, American Samoa

The Future Leaders gathering will provide a mechanism through which the voices of younger generations of future Pacific leaders will be brought to the attention of today’s government leaders.  It will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and hand-on workshops that highlight island voices and perspectives. Among the major discussion topics will be climate change, women’s empowerment, expanding the democratic space, non-communicable disease and seabed mining. The gathering will serve as a springboard for a series of ongoing discussions that will feed directly into the Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands in August.

Sponsored by the East-West Center and funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand. Attendance is by invitation only.
