The Hawaiʻi Department of Education and the East-West Center Present:
Hawaiʻi Youth Summit
Inspiring Global Citizenship
In partnership with Pacific and Asian Affairs Council and Hawaiʻi Green Growth.
The East-West Center is excited to build upon the Hawaiʻi Department of Education’s vision for high school students in Hawaiʻi to be “globally competitive and locally committed.” The Hawaiʻi Youth Summit offers an opportunity for students to ground themselves in an appreciation of their cultural identities and place here in Hawaiʻi, to connect that to the world, and use it to guide their vision and action for a better future. Students will open their minds to new cultures, ways of thinking, and future career possibilities through dynamic and interactive international engagement at the East-West Center.
The event will bring 90 public and charter high school students from across the state of Hawaiʻi together to:
- Gain new perspectives on Hawaiʻi’s role in the Pacific and Asia.
- Develop your understanding of who you are as a leader and consider your role as a leader from Hawaiʻi.
- Engage with young leaders–EWC’s international participants– from across the world, and explore issues of our globally connected world, new cultures, and career possibilities.
- Learn and apply new ways of thinking and visioning the future.
- Connect with other like-minded students interested in building a more inclusive and equitable world and gain a network of experts and mentors.
Transportation and meals will be provided.
