How do labor market institutions and employment conditions influence fertility? How do fertility trends respond to family policies such as employment-protected paid leave, childcare services, and cash transfers? The purpose of the 2018 KIHASA-EWC joint conference will be held to answer some of these questions. More specifically, the conference will examine the linkage between fertility and labor market security and labor market situation with a special reference to its policy responses. Selected experts from each countries investigate this issue in more detail and try to measure the extent to which the change in fertility of their countries are explained by the labor market institutions and government programs. How do labor market institutions and employment conditions influence fertility?
