Join the featured artists for the opening of the Reflections in Water, 2023 Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society Open Show at the East-West Center Gallery.

Reflections in Water features 40 paintings by 32 artists selected by juror Joseph Zbukvic. The paintings in this exhibition were guided by the theme of Global Connection. Over the span of the Covid era, artists around the world simultaneously found themselves isolated and embraced by a wider community of fellow creatives. While many of us struggled to find ways of working constricted spaces, the new limits birthed creativity and newfound resilience. Enabled by Zoom and other platforms, we reached across borders and found new friends, worked in new mediums, and collaborated in ways we'd never dreamed of. We invited artists to submit work inspired by their experiences during the Covid era and reflect on these new territories and explorations.
