10 alumni of the Pacific Islands Tourism Professional Fellows Program and up to 7 American Fellows will take part in an alumni engagement activities from November 26-December 1, 2019 in Vanuatu. The alumni activity is an opportunity to bring select alumni from the first three cohorts of the Pacific Islands Tourism Professional Fellows Program together to deepen their connections, enhance their learning, share experiences with their colleagues, and further develop and refine project plans. The overall goals of the activity are to strengthen their leadership abilities, contribute to their professional development, and enhance the tourism industry in their home countries as a means for economic empowerment of communities. Alumni will also have the opportunity to apply for and receive a small amount of funding support for their follow-on projects.

The activity is two-part:

2)         November 30-December 1, 2019:  Alumni and their American counterparts will reconvene as a small group in Port Vila to participate in project incubator workshop. The incubator workshop is based on the East-West Center Leadership Program’s Innovation Labs, whereby learning priorities are developed by participants, content is co-created and delivered by participants and facilitators, and the outcome will be small-scale fundable projects they can implement in their own communities to enhance their place-specific models of tourism.
