EWC President Richard Vuylsteke to Step Down at End of Year


HONOLULU (April 28, 2021) -- Dr. Richard R. Vuylsteke, President of the East-West Center since January 2017, has informed the EWC Board of his intention to step down at the completion of his five-year contract. The Board has accepted Richard's decision and engaged the firm of Isaacson Miller to assist in the search for his successor.

Dr. Richard R. "Under his direction, the Center has increased its funding, strengthened and modernized operations, and has ensured strong programming even through the pandemic. We are indebted to Richard for his important role in positioning the Center for its next era of success and impact."

After stepping down as President, Dr. Vuylsteke plans to remain active in international relations and public service.
