Focus on Women's Leadership


HONOLULU (July 5, 2017) -- The East-West Center played host to several women's leadership programs in the last week of June, bringing together participants from around the world to meet and collaborate on issues of women's advancement and equality.

The global business consulting firm EY sponsored a high-level "Women Fast Forward" dialogue on June 29-30, part of the "W20" process that informs the G20 on women's issues. (Read the participants' communiqué of policy recommendations for the G20, or view a photo gallery from the dialogue.)

At the same time, in conjunction with its annual Changing Faces Women's Leadership Seminar, EWC presented its third #galswithLEI (Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Inspiration) forum bringing together the visiting international women with local Hawai'i female leaders for an afternoon of workshops and “open space” discussions, capped by a networking reception featuring food from some of Honolulu’s top women chefs.

The Changing Faces Seminar is the Center’s flagship women’s program, bringing together 14 female social and business entrepreneurs from Asia Pacific and the U.S. for a two-week training, dialogue and field study program to build skills and confidence. The participants ineract extensively with the Honolulu community through site visits and local women host mentors.
