HONOLULU (April 19, 2022) – After a two-year pandemic pause, the East-West Center is delighted to be resuming in-person public events. On Wednesday April 20, EWC Vice President Dr. Satu Limaye will be presenting the Center’s first hybrid public seminar (both in-person and virtual) on the impact of the war in Ukraine on US relationships in the Indo-Pacific.
In addition, the East-West Center Gallery has reopened to the public, featuring an exhibit on Balinese art through this Sunday, April 24. And the Center’s Imin International Conference Center is once again open for meeting and event bookings by nonprofit organizations.
Recently, more than 500 EWC students, friends and family celebrated their diverse home cultures and a joyful reemergence from pandemic restrictions at the Center’s resumed annual East-West Fest cultural fair. And in late June and early July, the Center will be hosting two of its signature events at the Hawai‘i Convention Center—the EWC International Media Conference, immediately followed by an International Alumni Conference. Both events also offer an option to attend virtually.
In addition, the Center will be resuming in-person exchange programs, including a cohort of emerging Southeast Asian environmental leaders participating in EWC’s Experiential Professional Development Program starting in May. The Center's Washington, DC office has also been resuming in-person activities.
