The Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) is excited to announce the launch of their first podcast series, Pacific Leaders Today, dedicated to young leaders from the Pacific. The series features alumni of PILP, an East-West Center (EWC) program that builds leaders dedicated to shaping the future prosperity of the Pacific by taking informed, effective action.

Each 20 to 30-minute episode of Pacific Leaders Today showcases a PILP alum relating their thoughts and experiences of leadership in the government, business, and non-profit sectors. Through one-on-one conversations, alumni share their experiences as PILP fellows and their leadership journey after the program, including their unique insights about creating spaces for people to build shared futures, Pacific resilience in the face of climate change, and leading from within.

Funded by the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), this EWC podcast series draws from PILP’s vibrant network of 157 alumni from 15 Pacific Island countries who represent the leading edge of a new generation of leaders and communities of action in the region. The podcasts will be published twice a month between November 2021 and March 2022.

“We’re excited to collaborate with and learn from our PILP alumni in this podcast series. Leadership development is a lifelong pursuit. Pacific Leaders Today is as way to keep sharing what the region’s leaders are learning,” says Gretchen Alther, Senior Manager of the EWC’s Leadership Program.

The premiere episode features Landisang Kotaro, PILP alum (Palau, 2014 participant) and the first woman Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic of Palau. This episode is available now. Further Pacific Leaders Today episodes will be available on the following podcasting platforms as they are released: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, YouTube, Google Podcasts, Tune In, Stitcher, Pocket Casts, Breaker, Deezer, Podcast Addict, Castbox, Overcast, and Castro. Episodes will also be shared the EWC Leadership Program’s Facebook and Instagram.

The 2022 PILP application is open until February 1, 2022. For more information on the program, visit the PILP webpage.
