East-West Center Student Affiliate Program 
An opportunity for University of Hawai‘i graduate students and graduate students coming to Hawai‘i on official exchange programs to participate in the Center's residential, educational, leadership, and cultural programs.
Type of study: Participation in EWC programs focused on creating an Asia Pacific community through dialogue, educational and cultural activities, and public outreach.
Eligibility: Full-time graduate student status at the University of Hawai‘i, or participation in a graduate-level exchange program. Open to students from all countries with research interests in the Asia Pacific region.
Provisions: Discounted housing rate in EWC residence halls; eligible for competitive EWC field-study/travel grant awards.
Application deadline: November 1 for spring semester start; June 1 for fall semester start.

East-West Center Affiliate Scholar Program 
An opportunity for graduate students from universities and institutions around the world to have a short-term affiliation with the Center while working on research for a thesis or dissertation related to the Asia Pacific region. Applicants may apply to the EWC, or through partner organizations including the Thai Research Fund and China Scholarship Council (see below).
Type of study: Intensive research for Master's or Doctoral students for a few months up to one year; participation in the Center's residential and educational programs. 
Eligibility: Graduate students from universities worldwide, to work on research for a thesis or dissertation related to the Asia Pacific region.
Provisions: Research library access, and discounted housing rate in EWC graduate residence halls. Partner organizations determine other provisions.
Application deadline: Applications are received year-round and affiliation is arranged individually. For partnerships, applicants must meet their funding organization deadlines.

China Scholarship Council - East-West Center Joint Affiliate Scholar Program 
An opportunity to visit the East-West Center and University of Hawaii while engaging in research as a doctoral student, funded by the China Scholarship Council
Type of Study: Intensive research for one semester to one year; participation in EWC programs focused on creating an Asia Pacific community through research, dialogue, educational and cultural activities.
Eligibility: Citizens of the People's Republic of China who are PhD students from universities in China to work on research for a thesis or dissertation. Priority given to graduate students with research interests in the Asia Pacific region.
Provisions: Research library access and discounted housing rate in EWC graduate residence halls.
Application deadline: January 15 for application to the East-West Center. Successful applicants will be invited to apply for funding from the China Scholarship Council with deadline for funding application of April 5.
