In partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in thePILP North Pacific Alumni Summit Save the Date Republic of China (Taiwan), the East-West Center will host a series of regional Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) alumni events starting in the North Pacific in 2021, before migrating to the South Pacific in 2022 and 2023, followed by a pan-Pacific, all-alumni showcase event in 2024.

Due to Covid-19, we are unable to hold the 2021 PILP Alumni Summit in-person in the North Pacific as originally planned. Instead, the event has been converted to a virtual summit (online).

The purpose of the Virtual Summit is to give PILP alumni the opportunity to:

  • Build upon leadership training experienced in your original PILP curriculum
  • Enhance and update knowledge of the North Pacific region
  • Connect to PILP alumni across cohorts and throughout the Pacific
  • Work in partnership with the EWC around a shared purpose to co-produce and co-host each event

The format of the virtual summit will include:

  • Two sessions per day during work hours with an extended break in-between
    • The first session, hosted by the EWC, will feature advanced leadership training linked to the workplace
    • The second session, hosted by PILP alumni in the North Pacific, will feature local Distinguished Leaders from the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, and Republic of the Marshall Islands discussing local opportunities and challenges which affect the Pacific region as a whole

This is a private event meaning virtual summit attendance is limited to PILP alumni only. Please note that due to time zone differences the summit will take place on different days for different countries as outlined below.

  • February 24-26, 2021
    • Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tarawa, Kiribati, Nauru, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Tuvalu
