A Message from the President of the East-West Center

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share with you all the passing of esteemed Board member, former Chief Justice Ronald Moon. Chief Justice Moon was appointed to East-West Center's Board of Governors in 2015 by Governor David Ige, and appointed to the court in 1990 by fellow board member and former Governor, John Waiheʻe. The first Korean American appointed to a state supreme court, Chief Justice Moon's legacy is embodied in his father's favorite quote, “public service is the rent one pays to occupy space here on Earth”.

East-West Center will honor the life and legacy of Chief Justice Moon by providing an In Memoriam Certificate, signed by all board members, to his ‘ohana, followed by a wreath of aloha at the time of his service.
