Roundtable Meeting with the Representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)


(Washington, DC) During their first trip to the United States, the ten AICHR representatives discussed the AICHR mandate, as well as its regional role and activities. A presentation given by Dr. David Cohen, director of the War Crimes Studies Center, discussed human rights education at the university-level in the United States. The last presentation which featured Ms. Jennifer Wilson, senior advisor for ASEAN Affairs at USAID’s Regional Development Mission to Asia, and Dr. Timothy Buehrer, chief of party for the ASEAN-US Technical Training Facility with Nathan Associates explored how the AICHR and the United States government could cooperate on human rights education and how to develop a joint program with AICHR on corporate social responsibility.
