Pacific Island Countries-U.S. Security Dialogue

The EWC will host a multi-day track 1.5 dialogue to address security challenges in the region with representatives from the U.S. and Pacific Island Countries, including the Council of Regional Organizations in the Pacific (CROP), civil society, and academia in addition to representatives from each of the sixteen Pacific Islands Forum countries and officials from the U.S. and other allies.

Participants will take a critical and informed look at some of the biggest issues impacting the security of the region, including debt trap diplomacy; protecting critical infrastructure, including cyber-security, telecommunications, and port-related issues; environment/resource security related to illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing; and regional architecture challenges, opportunities, and how the U.S. can help support regional goals.

This project activity extends and builds on the successes of high-level dialogues facilitated and led by the Pacific Islands Development Program
