Generation 1 (G1) graduated from the Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) in 2013.  Today, the PILP alumni network has grown into a vibrant community of action, consisting of 157 leaders across 15 countries who stand committed to the future prosperity of the Pacific region.  PILP is designed to be a platform for personal and professional advancement.  Through their achievements and success, we are witnessing the rise of the PILP alumni community, individually and collectively, throughout all sectors and walks of life in local communities, regional architecture and on the global stage.

As an alumni community, our goals in PILP are to stay meaningfully connected, embrace lifelong learning, enhance individual leadership capacity, share solutions, increase impact and to support each other through life’s challenges and opportunities.

Pacific Leaders Today: A PILP Podcast

The Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) team is excited to announce the creation of a podcast series, Pacific Leaders Today. Funded by the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), this East-West Center (EWC) podcast series is dedicated to emerging leaders from the Pacific. This portion of the series focuses on alumni of PILP, an EWC program that seeks to build leaders dedicated to shaping the future prosperity of the Pacific region by taking informed, effective action.

Each episode of Pacific Leaders Today will showcase an alum in conversation on the topic of leadership and will occur twice a month, starting in November. The first episode, featuring Landisang Kotaro, PILP Alum (Palau, Generation 2) and the first woman Chief of Staff to President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. of the Republic of Palau, is live! In the episode, Landisang brings up the tie between leadership and identity, saying, “it’s the foundation of who you are. It’s going to be your moral compass. That’s going to be the little voice in your head that will make you do what’s right because it’s right”.
