The North Pacific Women’s Action Program, funded by the New Zealand Consulate of Hawai'i and U.S. Department of State, engages established women leaders who are known for “getting things done” but are often not in the spotlight. We are supporting a network of women leaders in taking informed effective action on issues they identify as important to their communities across the US Freely Associated States including Chuuk, Pohnpei, Ebeye, Kosrae, Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. The program offers four-day on-island Workshops as well as a blended six-month Community Leadership Incubator.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INCUBATOR

The Community Leadership Incubator takes an “online and on-island” approach by combining small cohorts on each island guided by an advisor, and the larger virtual cohort across all islands. Monthly meet-ups provide tools, strategy discussions and talks by inspirational women leaders from the region. Tools are then practiced and shared within Peer Learning Labs run by Incubator members, often in their organizations.

The model ensures tools for systems thinking, future scenarios, value articulation, generative writing or personal action planning, for example, are adapted for local contexts and reach a larger audience beyond English-speakers or typical leadership training attendees.

WORKSHOPS

The Incubator tools and approaches are refined in our Workshops on all seven islands. Participants engage tools the first three days of the workshop, then design and lead a Community Workshop on the last day for up to 50 women from their networks.

KEY DATES

2018 Workshops: Ebeye, February 5-8 / Kosrae February 12-15 / Yap February 21-24 / Palau February 26-March 1

Community Leadership Incubator: March - August, 2018
