
Generation 1 (G1) graduated from the Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) in 2013. Today, the PILP alumni network has grown into a vibrant community of action, consisting of 157 leaders across 15 countries who stand committed to the future prosperity of the Pacific region. PILP is designed to be a platform for personal and professional advancement. Through their achievements and success, we are witnessing the rise of the PILP alumni community, individually and collectively, throughout all sectors and walks of life in local communities, regional architecture and on the global stage.
As an alumni community, our goals in PILP are to stay meaningfully connected, embrace lifelong learning, enhance individual leadership capacity, share solutions, increase impact and to support each other through life’s challenges and opportunities.

PILP Alumni Virtual Summit


The PILP Alumni Summit is an event that is co-produced and co-hosted by PILP alumni, and generously funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Beginning in 2021, there have been two alumni summits held virtually. The purpose of the event is threefold:
- Connect PILP alumni across the Pacific
- Build the PILP alumni network and form new partnerships, enhance regional awareness and understanding across the Pacific
- Co-create spaces and opportunities for learning and leadership development

Pacific Leaders Today: A Pacific Islands Leadership Program Podcast

In 2021, the Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) at the East-West Center created Pacific Leaders Today, a podcast series dedicated to emerging leaders from the Pacific. The first season of the series focuses on alumni of PILP, an EWC program that seeks to build leaders dedicated to shaping the future prosperity f the Pacific region by taking informed, effective action.
