...People will meet there on humanly equal terms and will engage in genuine dialogue from which each will learn and to which each will contribute.” — John Burns, appealing to a Senate Subcommittee

63 Years, 70,000+ Alumni, One ‘Ohana

May 14, 2023 marks 63 years of the East-West Center continuing its mission to promote better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific. Over 70,000 people have come through our doors as alumni and moved on to become change makers around the world.

A Walk through Memory Lane

The best part of working at the Office of Alumni Engagement is being able to hear stories from Alumni. Here are some fond memories that are commonly shared with us.

Remember when volleyball competitions were played in front of Hale Mānoa? Memories of fun times shared here with friends are still treasured by alumni today.

Food is a universal language that connects us together. One of the highlights of living at Hale Mānoa is cooking a meal with friends.

Remember participating in East-West Fest? The Center held its most recent fest on April 16, with a successful turnout of over 1,500 visitors!
