Economic Policy Issues: Joint Project with the Korea Development Institute Economic Policy Issues: Joint Project with the Korea Development Institute

For more than 35 years, the East-West Center and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) have published an annual series of studies on economic policy. Each year, the project organizers select an important economic issue and design a book around related topics. Contributors include a variety of practitioners and scholars from South Korea, Pacific-rim countries, Europe, and North America. Current work focuses on the development of human capital, strengthening government fiscal accountability, the challenges of China's "new normal," innovation-driven economic growth, and population aging and sustainable growth.

Authors from around the world are invited to prepare papers in their respective areas of specialization, with emphasis on lessons drawn from the experiences of their home countries or regions. The papers are presented at an annual meeting of authors, which is structured to include peer review from commentators and fellow authors. The papers are then edited at the East-West Center.

Among many distinguished economists who have contributed in recent years are David Autor, Jay Pil Choi, Robert Clark, LOren Brandt, Barry Eichengreen, Takatoshi Ito, Alan Krueger, Hyungpyo Moon, David Neumark, Maurice Obstfeld, Hyun Song Shin, and J. Karl Scholz.
