John Burns Hall, named after Hawai‘i Governor John Burns, one of the founders of the East-West Center, houses the Center's program rooms, administrative offices, and East-West Center Art Gallery. Burns Hall is located at 1601 East- West Road at the corner of Dole and East-West Road. Business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:45am to 4:30pm (Hawai‘i Standard Time), closed weekends and federal holidays. Learn more on our Visitor Information page.
The East-West Center was established by the U.S. Congress in May, 1960. The goal of the East-West Center is to promote better relations and understanding between the United States and the nations of Asia and the Pacific region.
