WASHINGTON, DC (MAY 2, 2024) - From April 17 to April 19, the East-West Center in Washington led a delegation of 18 journalists from across the Indo-Pacific to Taiwan for the 2024 Indo-Pacific Journalists Study Tour and Dialogue. Under the theme of "Enhancing Regional Connections," the delegation included participants representing India, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Taiwan.

During this three-day visit, the delegation engaged with various local organizations, companies, and government officials including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuma Academy, Radio Taiwan International and the Taiwan Digital Diplomacy Association, Taipower Company, and Doublethink Lab. The group heard from experts and practitioners regarding Taiwan's democratic resilience, efforts to fight disinformation, energy security, economic transformation, and diplomatic space.

APRIL 18 - The delegation visited Radio Taiwan International for a co-briefing with Taiwan Digital Diplomacy Association Founder Chiayo Kuo and RTI Chairperson Cheryl Lai.

APRIL 19 - The delegation travelled to Hsinchu to visit the TSMC Museum of Innovation.

"The EWCW is grateful for all the organizations and experts who spoke with this unique group of journalists from across the Indo-Pacific," said EWCW Program Manager Abbigail Hull. "Their expertise and interaction made this program successful in achieving its mission of conveying and connecting Taiwan to the region."
