Asia Pacific Leadership Program

The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is the center of excellence for leadership education in Asia Pacific and a signature program of the East-West Center. The program links advanced and interdisciplinary analysis of emergent regional issues with experiential leadership learning.

APLP graduates leave the East-West Center with an expanded regional perspective. They are knowledgeable about the societies and issues of the Asia Pacific region and empowered to exercise leadership and promote cooperation in a variety of cultural, geographical and institutional environments.  In short, APLP alumni are navigators of change.

With the APLP's 20th anniversary and the East-West Center's 60th anniversary in sight, we are excited to build on our years of expertise delivering high-quality programming and our vast network of leaders across the region.  With 605 APLP alumni in 45 countries and over 1,000 Leadership Program alumni globally, the program prides itself on being in-touch with our alumni and current fellows' realities.  This requires that we regularly revisit what we do and how we do it.  To this end, we are enhancing the 2018 program with changes that are detailed in What is the APLP?.  These changes impact components but not the core of the APLP.

The application deadline for the 2018-2019 Asia Pacific Leadership Program has passed.  Please check our website in September when we will begin accepting applications for the 2019 Asia Pacific Leadership Program.
